But this Russian artist is putting them side by side in her series “Fashion & Nature”. Part of her “1 + 1” project, it juxtaposes dresses straight from the walkway with grand vistas of nature. And while the designers’ inspiration is largely unknown, the resemblance is uncanny. A sort of macro level camouflage meant for giants, if you will. Liliya Hudyakova works with photo-composition. “1 + 1″ is the over-arching theme of her works, comparing people to stuff ranging from space to flowers. Her “Fashion And [Word]” series is probably the biggest, doing such interesting comparisons like Beyonce’s dress and king Ludwig’s bedroom in Linderhoff Castle, Bavaria. And here’s people think themselves smart for comparing Rihanna’s dress with an omelet. More info: Instagram | Facebook | Behance | Tumblr (h/t: boredpanda)

Click for more: http://ww2.kqed.org/artschool/ Oakland high school student Zachary Fernandez made it to the finals on the first season of Project Runway Junior, then headed straight back to Oakland School of the Arts to continue his education as a designer. His newest collection, Kathmandu, was inspired by recovery efforts in Nepal after the devastating 2015 earthquake. Art School followed Fernandez's process as he sketched, sourced fabric, and designed his new project, revealed at a culminating fashion show in spring 2016. Hi, my name is Zachary Fernandez and I'm currently a fashion student. So I am starting my Kathmandu 2016 collection. My collection's gonna be debuting at my school fashion show, and so I have little under seven weeks to get this all put together. So our school assignment was to pick a city that we wanted to be inspired by for this collection. I ended with Kathmandu, Nepal, all of the trouble that they went through last year was really inspiring and I was able to take those ideas of imbalance and the destruction of culture and apply that to this new collection. These are the pieces that I ended up designing. They're ever-changing and they kind of just are always in flux. My sketching process involves a lot of images, a lot of mixed medias, I like to do collages, watercolors, acrylic paste, it's a real reflection of what my mind looks like. Here you have the final sketches that I've done. The sketching process for me is really a major step between just ideas and kind of this fantasy world that I've created in my mind to really functional wearable pieces. Fabric sourcing is one of my favorite things to do. It's really like a group activity, like meet a couple of friends, we'll just go, we'll explore the city, we'll get inspiration. So I'm looking for like a very pale blue that's almost like very silverish, and then I'm gonna be looking for a very deep, rust orange color. Okay, so I need to find this, but more grayish blue. The fabric store is one of those places that you go in with one idea and one concept and one thought, and you come out with like 500 more. This is it. - This is it! - This is it. - [Girl] Dude! - Hey! Yes! So I spend the majority of my time draping and it's definitely a part that will make or break a piece. I take a piece of muslin, which is just a really basic blend fabric, and I started sculpting it to the dress form. And then those mock-ups that I make of the dress form are then fitted to the model, and sometimes I try them on a model, I'm like, this is hideous, I don't know why, it just overpowers her or something happens and that leads to even better ideas and even more just, creativeness. When you design while you create, I just think it takes so much longer and you like pressure yourself so much more. So, my design mind is turned off. And it's just about sewing, and sewing, and sewing, and sewing, and sewing. So after I finish draping, I take a part of that mockup and I totally seam rip it and I re-pattern it, and then I cut out of my real fabric. It's always really nerve-wracking 'cause a lot of times the fabric's all that you have, either the budget doesn't allow for you to get more fabric, or there's simply not anymore left. It has this like box-like structure in it. The box is actually lined with horse-hair so that it can kind of take the shape and that's why I'm kind of trying to like manipulate it right now 'cause it just takes on whatever shape you really need it to. The show, oh the show. Six days, and I'm still cutting up fabric like, I don't think that's normal. There's always going to be that last minute hurry up and finish like state of being. I have a picture in my mind about how this is supposed to go, but who knows if it actually go that way. I think that there can be a lot of different ways to read the look. Obviously you look for like the main things like color, silhouette, is this an evening piece, is this a day piece and you just kind of put the garment and choose certain categories and that really helps people read fashion out, by the time the piece is on the runway I'm already thinking about a whole new collection and I'm really thinking something totally different, but it doesn't really hit me that these people, for them it's the first time that they've seen this. I've spent months and months planning and sketching and putting it together. If I see all these different things in these pieces, but no one else does, then it's kind of sad, but then it's also part of what makes fashion art, is because people see it in so many different ways. We are in my home, studio, bedroom combination in Berkeley, California. I have this look from Project Runway Junior, which was the first episode, and this look for my most recent collection. They really mean a lot to me 'cause they show how much progress I've made within the last four, five months.

(19 Oct 2017) LEADIN: The veteran Japanese designer Hiroko Koshino is synchronising art with fashion on the catwalk in Tokyo. Up-and-coming designer, Viviano Sue is debuting his flower-inspired creations in a bid to capture the circle of life. STORYLINE: Tokyo's top venues have been fitted with fashion runways for the Japanese capital's fashion week, sponsored by e-commerce company Amazon. As in the past, designers from Japan and Asia are dominating the event's lineup - almost sixty designers are presenting their collections here this year. Japanese designer Hiroko Koshino is showcasing this colourful and artistic collection. Koshino says she often gets inspiration from her artwork or by her travels abroad. She says fashion goes in cycles, styles often repeat themselves over the years, but there's always a need to make them fresh and adapt them to today's times. "I like to paint and that's art, but from there ideas come out and I bring those ideas into my fashion, that's what happens with me," explains Koshino. "Sometimes when I design clothes, I get inspiration for my paintings, it depends. But this year, I'd say art was my inspiration." For the veteran Japanese designer, fashion is like bringing sculpture and art into the world of fashion. "I wanted to make something that was different, a different form," she says. "If you think of sculpture and art, I wanted to mix the two and bring these art forms out in fashion." Koshino's new collection went down well with the Tokyo audience. "It was a wonderful and dynamic show, I was so very impressed," says guest Yumiko Tomioka. Fashion designer Viviano Sue is presenting his collection for the second time in Tokyo. Tokyo-based Sue has an international background having lived in China, the US and Japan. He draws on both eastern and western cultures as a source of inspiration. Known for his avante garde fashion creations, this year Sue collaborated with a flower artist for his collection. Many models are either carrying or wearing flower arrangements. "The concept of this collection is about the life of flowers," explains Sue. "Usually, you see the designers and artists do the flowers when the flowers are blossoming, but for me I wanted to do a circle of life from the beginning to the end. "I like here and it was nice, and there's so many amazing people, amazing talent here. "And it was such an honour for me to show in Tokyo Fashion Week and with other really, really talented designers." Tokyo Fashion Week is held twice annually in March and October. The exciting worlds of fashion, fine art, dance and gourmet cuisine collide when San Francisco-based designer Joui Turandot celebrates the debut of her clothing line Vagadu, in the heart of Chicago's emerging modern art movement, the Pilsen/Bridgeport area. :: Each Vagadu collection is inspired by a different contemporary artists' creative process. This inspiration informs each of the one-of-a-kind pieces and brings the artists vision to life. All of the clothes are hand-made and function as wearable works of art meant to inspire the wearer both creatively and spiritually. Of her collection, Turandot says Clothes should represent you expressively and politically. Vagadu is made with inspiration and love for humanity. :: Local painter Rex Flodstrom will be featured and 10 of his paintings will be on display. Flodstrom will create a piece of art live using an original Vagadu dress as a canvas. The piece created by Flodstrom will then be available to own via a silent auction at the end of the event. All of the elements of the evening will celebrate Flodstrom's work in different mediums and is certain to be a feast for the senses. :: Guests will be treated to a delectable 6-course Pan Asian Fusion tasting menu provided by Chicago underground chef Efrain Cuevas. Cuevas conceived the sweet and savory treats by incorporating elements of Flodstrom's personal food favorites and influences from his art.

Hello my Femme Fatale's! Thank-you for another incredible Femme Fatale Intimates Lingerie Fashion show! This show was more then just a fashion show! There was art, music, live music, dance performances, beauty, hair, makeup tutorials, and fashion! Best of all, these were ALL local artist! This show was especially awesome for us, because we were able to create our own ideas, choose our own models, & Glam Squad. Raw Artist is a self sustained company, there was an amount of tickets needed to be sold to participate. I know there has been mixed reviews on that topic, some not seeing that to be a helpful, reasonable or just plain ripping artist's off. I can understand if there wasn't over 300 people in and out of the event, but not only was there 300+ people, everyone was super happy exhibiting and showcasing their goods! If the sales of the ticket would be a greater deal or more work for the artist to do, then the amount of guest wouldn't be as high. Every artist has family, friends, and customers who are willing to come support them. Why would they not want to come? Our incredible models all had the drive and the passion to walk for us! They were the ones who helped make these ticket sales happen! We ended up selling over the amount needed by more then half. I can only say we are so humbled to have the amazing support from all my friends, and family! My 1st Raw artist experience was incredible! I loved that we had the freedom to have ideas we wanted to for the runway, we we able to be FREE! We mixed LGBT community, males, plus size and all! The creativity was off the charts!! Our showcase director, Tania Birker, was awesome-- she was always open to talk, take questions, comments, concerns, and to share ideas with. I felt appreciated, and well taken care of! But this also was not my 1st rodeo! If you have been to any Femme Fatale Intimates show, you know we don't mess around. We take the runway life very seriously. In the end, I got exactly what I signed up for: an excellent experience, with good people and amazing talent. Till next time my Femme Fatale's *Next Raw Artist Show Feb 2018* Venue • SAVOR Showcase by RAW Artists Denver The Church Nightclub

This video is a re-uploaded video. Youtube demonetized this video due to copyrighted bg music(happy synthesizer), I changed bg music and re-uploaded it. There will be 6 videos that I need to re-upload due to same reason. I used happy synthesizer and other cute Japanese songs as bg music in these videos. It's safe to use songs that's from youtube library or from artists that's you cooperate with. I made this dress long long long time ago. I liked before, but now I really don’t like it because it doesn’t fit me and it looks VERY messy. I just think it’s too many bows, too much stuff. I didn’t have proper machine and fabric before. http://intrinsicallyflorrie.blogspot.com/ I've already uploaded my sketchbook from my AS Level coursework and here is my exam one! I chose the question 'Stacked' and proceeded to think about layers of flower petals, specifcally roses. I looked at Dolce & Gabbana for their beautiful ss10 rose prints, as seen in their Bond St Store, Vogue as shot on public view at Somerset House by Nick Knight as part of the Showstudio Fashion Revolution exhibition and Tatler. Then at roses on the street in my wardrobe and I paid a visit to David Austin Roses. My other artists were painting Henri Fantin-Latour (who I unfortunately skipped a couple of pages of in this flick through as you can guess by the uncertain pause) and textile artist Helene Soubeyran. I then progress into samples and there's a photograph of the dress I made on the final page.

Designers and tailors are our heroes. They are the artists and magicians who transform our fabrics into the expressive styles you see today. Because of them, our fabrics come to life and are worn with pride and elegance. During this campaign, several designers will inspire us with their creations. For this new fabric collection Dauvia Nijenhuis and Rianne Mertens surprised us with their fashion creations. Dauvia was born in Angola, and raised in the Netherlands since she was 10. She taught herself fashion design, and began wearing her own handmade creations in 2011. She got so many requests for outfits that she finally opened her own atelier, Dauvia, in 2015.

The celebratory opening of the exhibition ‘Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists 25 Years’ to mark the 25th anniversary of the Amsterdam house of fashion Viktor&Rolf was conducted on Saturday 26 May 2018 by Her Royal Highness Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau. Congratulations to the fashion duo were also expressed by Emily Ansenk, Director of the Kunsthal, the Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science Ingrid Van Engelshoven, guest curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot and the art collector Han Nefkens, who has been collecting the work of Viktor&Rolf for years. The impressive oeuvre of the fashion artists Viktor&Rolf was celebrated in a jubilant mood in the Kunsthal together with relatives, friends, relations from the world of fashion and art, and many sponsor partners. ‘Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists 25 Years’ is the largest exhibition of Viktor&Rolf in the Netherlands to date. It is the third exhibition that the Kunsthal has organised with guest curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot after the exhibition on Jean Paul Gaultier (2013) and the Kunsthal’s own international travelling exhibition on fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh (2016). Viktor&Rolf collaborated with the Kunsthal in selecting highlights from their career, resulting in some sixty of the most innovative works from their haute couture and ready-to-wear collections. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to admire haute couture – usually only visible on the catwalk – at close quarters. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary, the Han Nefkens Foundation has announced that it is donating eight fashion items to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, bringing its collection of works by Viktor&Rolf up to twenty-four pieces. ‘Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists 25 Years’ is based on the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne exhibition, developed in collaboration with Viktor&Rolf and guest curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is dedicated partner of the exhibition, with thanks to the Han Nefkens Foundation. Video made by Team Peter Stigter WWW.KUNSTHAL.NL

Christina Rinaldi says she first got into nail art in the seventh grade. "What seventh grader doesn't want crazy stuff painted on their nails?" The nail artist and Creative Director says her clients range from famous hip-hop artists to moms in New Jersey and that her appointments often become "hangout sessions, therapy sessions and nail art sessions all rolled into one." Naomi Yasuda, a New York-by-way-of-Nagoya nail artist, who counts Lady Gaga, Madonna and Alicia Keys among her past clients, says a chance encounter was what led her to become one of the most sought-after nail artists in the Big Apple. Juggling private appointments, fashion shoots and celebrity clients, Yasuda says she gets her inspiration from anything and everything. Featured Product.
