This video highlights the selling practices of AlienXNation Guitar Boutique located in California. Using the example of a guitar they are currently offering on ebay auction and website.
ESP never makes replica guitars with another brand on its headstock. Most probably some other party applied a Kramer headstock decal themselves (not difficult for alienxnation, who also make their own guitars), to avoid questions why the absence of an ESP logo.
Edwards is a low cost division of ESP, which markets lower cost guitars for the japan market. Edwards guitars are mass-made in Japan, Korea, and China.
They DO regularly produce replica guitars without any logo (example the 5150 guitar, and the black & white frankenstrat guitar also offered by alienxnation) The stamp “produced by ESP” is exclusive to Edwards guitar models, to associate with the ESP brand. If it is an actual ESP guitar, it would have a serial number on the headstock, bolt plate, or some appropriate markings.
A real ESP guitar would not need to be stamped “produced by ESP”. It would just say ESP on the front.
You may have seen “Orville by Gibson” branded guitars. Same idea.
Would an actual Gibson-branded guitar need to also be stamped “produced by Gibson”?
"Original MSRP pricing was many thousands of USA dollars in 1990/" - No, they cost about $800 new. Unless they can provide a catalog picture or invoice for a multi-thousand dollar ESP 5150 guitar, which they cannot because it doesn’t exist, therefore this is a fabrication and an outright lie
"It is public knowledge that a black and white striped Frankenstrat was released by ESP in the early 1990s. As well this red and white striped 5150 ESP frankenstrat production model was known to be produced and manufactured by ESP Japan and released. These facts are known by ESP collectors and there is information in the public domain to verify these facts." – No there is not. Where exactly are these ‘facts’ in the public domain?
"We will provide, upon your request, our Letter of Certification which will serve as a note declaring this as an authentic ESP Product. You need to ask us for this declaration and your name will appear on our own paperwork/letterhead ( AlienXnation Letterhead and Invoice ). "–certification based on whose authority? Is Alienxnation accredited by ESP to issue this? If not, what’s the difference between a certificate from alienxnation and some guy behind the counter at the 7-11?
Alienxnation advertising for this guitar contains a lot of wild claims. But take heed, none of it can actually be proved, instead only their OPINIONS & RUMORS. you decide if that is good enough for your money.
