What are the best girls' get aways?
Away from the guys. And the kids. Away from chores, jobs, work ... away from the house. Well, could I just say it needs to get me away from my day to day life?
Now that you think about it, the best girls' getaways are guilt-free. I can be away for a weekend and know that the house won't be totally messed up by the time I get back.
True. And I can get away for two days without missing my toddler too much.
So we're agreed, the best type of get away trips just last a weekend. What are the best girls weekend getaways?
It has to be something that you can actually do in a weekend. A weekend trip requiring an airplane flight. If I wanted to be groped, I'd give in to my husband, not queue up to have it done by the TSA.
Then what would you like to do?
Something affordable. The best girls weekend getaways are guilt free. A vacation isn't fun if I'm going to feel guilty for every purchase or worry about how I can pay for it all.
We have lots of things we can't do. What can we do?
A spa weekend. Pick a spa far enough away from home that you won't be tempted to drive over and check on your husband. Choose somewhere close enough that you won't lose a whole day driving there.
That makes it a one to three hour drive.
That would work. And the activities need to be something you can't do in your day to day life, such as a spa day.
That's too likely to make me feel guilty, if I lose a lot of money.
What about a day trip to a theme park? It could be just us girls.
That would be fun. Then spend the night at a local hotel, staying up as late as we want. It would be like a slumber party.
You have some great ideas here. Theme park, spa day ... what do you think would be the best girls weekend getaways?
Imagine going to an adult arcade like Dave and Busters one evening, then spending the night at a luxury hotel.
Enjoy the Jacuzzi, and you don't have to worry about your child knocking on the door, asking if you can tell him another bed time story.
The next day, hit a spa or theme park. Then you could do the other activity the next day. Or stay at the spa another day.
These are all excellent ideas. But what makes the best girls weekend getaways the best?
No kids, no commitments, no spouses, no guilt -- but at least one girlfriend to share it with.
