Agricultural marketing covers the services involved in moving an agricultural product from the farm to the consumer. Numerous interconnected activities are involved in doing this, such as planning production, growing and harvesting, grading, packing, transport, storage, agro- and food processing, distribution, advertising and sale. Some definitions would even include “the acts of buying supplies, renting equipment, (and) paying labor", arguing that marketing is everything a business does. Such activities cannot take place without the exchange of information and are often heavily dependent on the availability of suitable finance. Marketing systems are dynamic; they are competitive and involve continuous change and improvement. Businesses that have lower costs, are more efficient, and can deliver quality products, are those that prosper. Those that have high costs, fail to adapt to changes in market demand and provide poorer quality are often forced out of business. Marketing has to be customer-oriented and has to provide the farmer, transporter, trader, processor, etc. with a profit. This requires those involved in marketing chains to understand buyer requirements, both in terms of product and business conditions. In Western countries considerable agricultural marketing support to farmers is often provided. In the USA, for example, the USDA operates the Agricultural Marketing Service. Support to developing countries with agricultural marketing development is carried out by various donor organizations and there is a trend for countries to develop their own Agricultural Marketing or Agribusiness units, often attached to ministries of agriculture. Activities include market information development, marketing extension, training in marketing and infrastructure development. Since the 1990s trends have seen the growing importance of supermarkets and a growing interest in contract farming, both of which impact significantly on the way in which marketing takes place.

Most labels are organized according to quantity, with the most common ingredients being at the top. One method companies use to skew this information is the redistribution of ingredients: a product that is high in sugar, for example, could be further divided into sucrose, corn syrup, brown sugar, or dextrose, and as long as each of these types of sugar are small enough, none of them will appear at the top of the ingredient list, giving the impression that a product is healthier than it actually is. Anthropomorphism - It may just be a human quirk, but we love giving human qualities to animals or inanimate things. We give pet names to our cars, we scream at our computers when they’re not working, and we assume the weather is out to get us. In other words, when we attribute characteristics to an object, we immediately begin to empathize with it. Anti-Advertising Slogans - What’s the best way to advertise something? Well, how about not advertising it? This is the approach that some companies have taken by offering transparency. The principle behind their strategy is similar to reverse-psychology. A number of studies have found that by intimating that someone shouldn’t buy their products, they are in fact advertising honesty, and capitalizing on preconceived notions about the deceptive nature of advertisements. Misleading Visuals - We are a virtually graphic culture. We place a certain faith in what we can see, and as our dominant sense it’s what we use to shape our perceptions of what the world is like. So, it’s no surprise that marketing agencies manipulate the visuals around us on a daily basis. Misleading Commercials - The same principle as before also applies to the rampant use of CGI in commercials these days. The most blatant example of this is in car commercials. When you watch any car commercial or car scenes in movies, chances are the car you're watching isn't actually real. In other words, most of the cars you see have actually been created on the computer. Decoy Pricing - The decoy effect, or the ‘asymmetric dominance effect’, refers to a tendency in humans to change their preferences based on whether or not a ‘decoy’ product is introduced that is inferior to other choices. The best example of this is when a consumer is confronted with two computers with similar qualities and prices. Overpricing - Have you eaten at a fancy restaurant and noticed one of their most expensive dishes, and then decided to go with a cheaper option? You may have fallen into a marketing ploy related to a cognitive bias, called “anchoring”. Reduced Portion Sizes - Do you find yourself whining about how much air there seems to be in bags of chips these days? In the food industry in particular, reduced portions have become an increasing trend. On the surface, this might seem like a great idea, given the western worlds obesity epidemic – until you discover that the prices for products don’t reflect the diminished packet sizes. Gruen Transfer - Named after the eminent mall architect Victor Gruen, the Gruen Transfer refers to the maze-like quality which hallmarks many malls and super stores. Gruen discovered early on that creating an environment of disorientation helped to sway people into a false sense of security and expose them to products they might not have ordinarily bought. Strategic Layout of Products - When you go into Safeway or a Husky gas station, what you might not realize is that the placement of every food product has been carefully designed, tested, and implemented. Too such an extent that companies actually have representatives and quality consultants making rounds to ensure everything is where it’s supposed to be.

These variables are known as the Four Ps of Marketing. Focusing on: • Product • Price • Place • And Promotion This has proven to be an effective way to understand the decisions a company makes when it enters a market and competes in it. If a company understands the needs of its customers, it can create products that satisfy the clients’ expectations and contain the features they desire; it will offer these products at a price that corresponds to the target market’s willingness to spend, and it will offer them where the target market loves to shop. It will also build its brand communication in a language that speaks to the target market. Marketing Mix and the Four Ps is intuitive. Marketing managers should concentrate on these variables and tailor them regarding the target market they’ve chosen to pursue.

Brand equity is a phrase used in the marketing industry which describes the value of having a well-known brand name, based on the idea that the owner of a well-known brand name can generate more money from products with that brand name than from products with a less well known name, as consumers believe that a product with a well-known name is better than products with less well-known names. Brand equity refers to the value of a brand. In the research literature, brand equity has been studied from two different perspectives: cognitive psychology and information economics. According to cognitive psychology, brand equity lies in consumer’s awareness of brand features and associations, which drive attribute perceptions. According to information economics, a strong brand name works as a credible signal of product quality for imperfectly informed buyers and generates price premiums as a form of return to branding investments. It has been empirically demonstrated that brand equity plays an important role in the determination of price structure and, in particular, firms are able to charge price premiums that derive from brand equity after controlling for observed product differentiation. Some marketing researchers have concluded that brands are one of the most valuable assets a company has, as brand equity is one of the factors which can increase the financial value of a brand to the brand owner, although not the only one. Elements that can be included in the valuation of brand equity include (but not limited to): changing market share, profit margins, consumer recognition of logos and other visual elements, brand language associations made by consumers, consumers' perceptions of quality and other relevant brand values. Consumers' knowledge about a brand also governs how manufacturers and advertisers market the brand. Brand equity is created through strategic investments in communication channels and market education and appreciates through economic growth in profit margins, market share, prestige value, and critical associations. Generally, these strategic investments appreciate over time to deliver a return on investment. This is directly related to marketing ROI. Brand equity can also appreciate without strategic direction. A Stockholm University study in 2011 documents the case of Jerusalem's city brand. The city organically developed a brand, which experienced tremendous brand equity appreciation over the course of centuries through non-strategic activities. A booming tourism industry in Jerusalem has been the most evident indicator of a strong ROI. While most brand equity research has taken place in consumer markets, the concept of brand equity is also important for understanding competitive dynamics and price structures of business-to-business markets. In industrial markets competition is often based on differences in product performance. It has been suggested however that firms may charge premiums that cannot be solely explained in terms of technological superiority and performance-related advantages. Such price premiums reflect the brand equity of reputable manufacturers. Brand equity is strategically crucial, but famously difficult to quantify. Many experts have developed tools to analyze this asset, but there is no agreed way to measure it. As one of the serial challenges that marketing professionals and academics find with the concept of brand equity, the disconnect between quantitative and qualitative equity values is difficult to reconcile. Quantitative brand equity includes numerical values such as profit margins and market share, but fails to capture qualitative elements such as prestige and associations of interest. Overall, most marketing practitioners take a more qualitative approach to brand equity because of this challenge. In a survey of nearly 200 senior marketing managers, only 26 percent responded that they found the "brand equity" metric very useful.

Quality function deployment (QFD) is a method to help transform customer needs (the voice of the customer ) into engineering characteristics (and appropriate test methods) for a product or service. It helps create operational definitions of the requirements, which may be vague when first expressed. It prioritizes each product or service characteristic while simultaneously setting development targets for the product or service. As described by Yoji Akao, who originally developed QFD in Japan in 1966, it is a "method to transform qualitative user demands into quantitative parameters, to deploy the functions forming quality, and to deploy methods for achieving the design quality into subsystems and component parts, and ultimately to specific elements of the manufacturing process.", The author combined his work in quality assurance and quality control points with function deployment used in value engineering. QFD is designed to help planners focus on characteristics of a new or existing product or service from the viewpoints of market segments, company, or technology-development needs. The technique yields charts and matrices. QFD is applied in a wide variety of services, consumer products, military needs, and emerging technology products. The technique is also included in the new ISO 9000:2000 standard which focuses on customer satisfaction. While many books and articles on "how to do QFD" are available, there is a relative paucity of example matrices available. QFD matrices become highly proprietary due to the high density of product or service information found therein. Quality Function Deployment is closely related to Hoshin Kanri. The Hoshin process came before QFD and both are used to document the objectives and needs of an organization.

The reality is that you need both. From YouTube's point of view you quanitity because that shows consistency and it will give them enough data to decide on the Quality of your video based on whether an audience continues to watch it for as long as possible. From the standpoing of improvement Quantity is more important that the result you produce because you can't get good or make quality content with out learning an efficient process and high level execution, you learn to draw well by drawing poorly over and over until you improve. Hey everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today, I'm going to share with you, how to make a landing page that converts over 40%. I know what you're thinking, 40% conversion rate, on a landing page, that's insane. Well, that's possible. Sure if you're selling a product for $100, you're not going to get a 40% conversion rate. But let's say you're just starting out and collecting leads like name and email address, you can get over 40%. And even if you're selling products you can boost your conversion rates if you follow these exact tips. Tip #1: Use tools like Instapage and Click Funnels. The cool part about Click Funnels and Instapage and even Lead Pages is they break down the landing pages in their system that convert to the best. And they're not making this up by saying oh this landing page converts better than this other one cause it looks cooler. They're using data; they have so many customers, thousands and thousands if not hundreds of thousands, that they're basing it on their existing customer base and their current conversion rates. So they know all their customers are using this one landing page that's converting better than all the other ones out there, that should tell you, hey you should start with this landing page first. #2: Offer an amazing unique value proposition. Not a weak one like put in your name and email and I'll send you a free pdf, or I'll send you weekly updates. That value proposition is terrible. It has to be amazing. With a lot of my offers, I give free courses. I give free guides that I've spent $30,000 creating. But I'm a crazy person. You don't have to go above and beyond like me, but my stuff converts better than most people. Why? Because I go above and beyond. With your value proposition, it needs to resonate with people; if you're not solving a problem that they're facing at a really deep level, they're not going to opt in or buy from you. If you're just scratching the surface and you're not breaking down why they should opt in or why they should buy your product or service and why it solves this problem they've had forever, they're much less likely to buy from you. So really focus on your copy. Out of everything I've tested when it comes to landing pages, copy and value proposition, are the biggest factors that influence conversion rate. #3: Keep it simple, silly. One of my companies was called Kiss Metrics. Why? Because I found that in marketing, everyone tries to over complicate stuff. There's no reason for it. Why not keep things super simple? For example, if you have 10 form fields, when you only need two, remove the extra stuff that you don't need. You don't want fluffy long landing pages that go on and on because you're going to lose people. #4: Show social proof. There are so many different versions of social proof. They could be testimonials; they could be case studies, it could be results that other people are experiencing, it could even be videos. If you're unsure on the best type of social proof, for your landing page, leave a comment below on what you're thinking, and I'll respond back if I think that's good or if not so good or if you should be doing something else instead. #5: Create a video. Not everyone enjoys reading. Some people love looking at pictures. But a picture isn't going to cause tons more people to convert. You need a video that explains everything they're going to get when they opt-in, or buy your product, or sign up for your service. The video should be short and to the point. Under three minutes, ideally under one minute. It should answer any objections people have before they sign up or buy from you. And it should describe everything in a logical order. Follow these tips; you're going to have an amazing landing page that's going to convert better. If you're collecting emails, you should be over 40%. If you're selling a product, depending on how targeted the traffic is, you could be at numbers like three, four, five, and sometimes upwards at 10% depending on the price point.
