We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Oxford tourism brochure, Oxford itinerary or Oxford, England city tour. 15 Things to do in Oxford Travel Guide | Day Trip from London, England video transcript: Good morning here in London. Today we are taking a day trip. Yes, we sure are. And we're heading off to Oxford. I mean this is obviously a destination that is quite famous. The most famous University in the world. It is not far from London. So it is a day trip. We're really excited. We're going to film a travel guide to Oxford. A couple of tips to keep in mind if you're traveling by bus. It is usually cheaper if you book in advance. Also, we noticed that weekdays were cheaper than weekends so we are going on a Friday today and got a good deal. We made it. We have arrived and that was an awesome trip. We got to see London and the countryside. Food always comes first. We're about food always. We cannot go sightseeing without a bite of food. We found a pub that is nice and cozy. We're right in the corner and this place apparently specializes in fish and chips. The University of Oxford has no known foundation date but teaching of some form has taken place here since the year 1096 making it the oldest University in the English speaking world. Today the University is made up for 38 self-governing colleges a few of which are open to visitors. So one of the things you can do when you visit Oxford is go around and tour the different colleges. We paid two pounds and now we're inside Trinity College. Trinity College was founded in 1555 and it’s one of the smallest colleges in Oxford admitted just over 400 students. This college has produced some noteworthy figures, including a few prime ministers. We also saw had a quick glance at Radcliffe College and the Bodleain Library, before continuing on to the University Church. This is the oldest Botanic Garden in Great Britain and it was originally founded as a medicinal garden. The Garden was also frequently visited by Lewis Carroll, an Oxford mathematics professor, and the gardens were a source of inspiration for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Oxford Castle is a partly ruined Norman castle dating back to Medieval times. During the 18th century it housed the local prison, but today those same walls are home to a hotel. So I think that is a wrap for our day trip to Oxford. Time to catch our bus. We're tired but we've done the main things we wanted to do. I hope you guys enjoyed this travel guide to Oxford and that it gives you a good idea of how you can kind of explore the city on a day trip from London. If you can come for longer because we wish we had 2 or 3 days here. This is part of our Travel in England video series showcasing British food, British culture and British cuisine. If you are a tourist in Oxford, some great things to do include exploring the areas surrounding the Radcliffe Camera, the Bodleian Library (especially if you are a Harry Potter fan), and the tower at St Mary's Church for stunning aerial views. All of the University of Oxford buildings are also definitely worth a visit as the architecture is beautiful. Oxford has many places to eat too! Try Combibos for delicious pancakes or The Handlebar for a healthy brunch. The hotel we stayed at was the Malmaison Oxford. The city of Oxford is home to some 150,000 residents and a famous seat of learning, the oldest English-speaking university in the world. Although the exact date of its founding isn't known, it is said that local priests and monks were first taught in monastery schools in the area in the eleventh century.

DAY TRIP TO OXFORD CITY UNIVERSITY ENGLAND!!! Saturday 17th June 2017 Unfortunately Joss is not with us again this weekend so it's just Becky and I. Nonetheless we are not going to get all down in the dumps about it and we're going on a day out! Becky has been saying that we should go on a trip to Oxford one day as it is very historic and there's loads to see and do. We didn't think Joss would be that excited about it so we decided to go today. We went on a bus tour which was actually really cool, it was absolutely scorching hot though so when the bus stopped we were melting. I think it was 28°C but it was really hot. We also went into the covered market, had lunch in a French cafe and found an awesome sweet shop. Thank you so much for watching today's video. We hope you enjoyed it. If you did then don't forget to hit the thumbs up button and subscribe to our channel for more great videos every week!!

Right off the plane without having slept, we went to Oxford in the drizzle to see some of what there is to see there. Places they filmed Harry Potter, the pub where C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien drank beer, smoked and discussed the ins and outs of Narnia and Middle Earth, stuff like that. And the final resting place of Tolkien and his wife.

TRIP TO LONDON, OXFORD STREET, CENTRAL LONDON, OXFORD STREET IN LONDON London Listeni/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames in the south east of Great Britain, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium.London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, note 1] a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire. London is a leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism, and transport all contributing to its prominence.[It is one of the world's leading financial centresand has the fifth-or sixth-largest metropolitan area GDP in the world depending on measurement.[note London is a world cultural capital. It is the world's most-visited city as measured by international arrivalsand has the world's largest city airport system measured by passenger traffic.[ London is one of the world's leading investment destinations, hosting more international retailers and ultra high-net-worth individuals than any other city. London's 43 universities form the largest concentration of higher education institutes in Europe, and a 2014 report placed it first in the world university rankings. According to the report London also ranks first in the world in software, multimedia development and design, and shares first position in technology readiness. In 2012, London became the first city to host the modern Summer Olympic Games three times. The etymology of London is uncertain. It is an ancient name, found in sources from the 2nd century. It is recorded c.121 as Londinium, which points to Romano-British origin. The earliest attempted explanation, now disregarded, is attributed to Geoffrey of Monmouth in Historia Regum Britanniae. This had it that the name originated from a supposed King Lud, who had allegedly taken over the city and named it Kaerlud

It's my first trip to UK and to Oxford in June 2018. I love the city, not too big. Clean air. There are many colleges with great old building. And Kevin is working in Brasenose College, so I was lucky enough to take a look like what's inside and have a chance to see the performance of Bach requiem in the chapel of the college. I visited some museums there, such as Oxford University Museum of Natural History, Ashmolean Museum at Beaumont Street, and Pitt Rivers Museum. I had also a walk to Iffley Lock which has beautiful little house (I love the house). Quick visit to Bath in one weekend and another one day trip to London, to Victoria and Albert Museum which ended by delicious dinner of Lebanese food Don't forget to visit other related links, Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/seth.adventure Blog http://sethadventure.wordpress.com Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sethsetiadha https://twitter.com/setiadha

As the title suggests, perhaps not the most direct route back to university, but certainly one of the most valuable! (£5 train ticket in Virgin's November sale, £6 coach ticket thanks to the discount received when making a first purchase on the Oxford Bus Company App) I found it to be a very smooth and easy journey.
