He always enjoyed drinking from 16 y/o and onward. He binge drank but never thought he had a problem. Further, he never saw himself not drinking because it was ingrained in his social behavior and life. In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro talks about how he quit drinking by accident. Alpha used to dip tobacco for 16 years. He was crazy addicted and ashamed. He decided to quit in 2010, and he knew he had to quit alcohol because it was a trigger to nicotine. He went from drinking 30 - 40 drinks a week to 10 drinks a year. He loves a bourbon every once in a while as well as wine at a nice dinner. He hasn't been drunk in a LONG time. Ultimately, he has a better respect for alcohol. The moment he stopped tobacco and alcohol everything has exponentially and astronomically changed. All of the sudden, all of the cloudiness dissipated, and it felt incredible! His life is 1,000xs better in every aspect. Changes for Alpha as a Result of Not Drinking 1. He stopped doing stupid things 2. He felt awesome every day when he woke up 3. His mind was so much clearer, and his senses were heightened 4. He became more creative due to not being clouded by a hang-over and not feeling good 5. His productivity sky-rocketed 6. He started making more money due to more focus & productivity (as well as not spending as much money as drinking is expensive!) 7. He looked better including his skin 8. Staying in shape was so much easier after quitting drinking (combine calories from alcohol with crappy food that typically goes along with drinking) 9. He was proud of himself rather than hating himself for being self-destructive 10. He is happier! All of the benefits to not drinking outweigh that beer / wine / bourbon. He wouldn't trade all the money in the world for all of this clarity and sobriety. It's remarkable.

Science has shown that beer can bring many surprising health benefits even though it’s usually perceived as unhealthy. However, remember the key to good health is moderation like a pint a day. Binge drinking on a Friday night will do way more damage and it would be unwise to justify poor habits with false science. So Here are some remarkable and surprising beer benefits that might change your perception of the drink. 1.It can help prevent kidney stones A study conducted in Finland established that moderate daily consumption of beer can reduce the risk of developing kidney stones by 40%. This health benefit is attributed to beer’s high water content (about 93%) that helps flush harmful toxins out of the body and keep the kidneys working properly. Also, compounds in hops used in brewing help slow the release of calcium from bones, which in turn prevents build up of lost calcium in the kidney in the form of stones. 2.It can help reduce risk of heart disease One eye-opening study conducted at Italy’s Fondazion di Ricerca e Cura found that people who drank a pint of beer daily had a 31% reduced chance of heart disease. This heart protecting power of beer stems largely from beer’s natural antioxidants called phenols. However, the study also showed risk of heart disease increased in people who consumed higher amounts of beer. 3.It can help minimize risk of cancer Beer contains an important antioxidant known as xanthohumol. Xanthohumol is known to have powerful anti cancer properties that help fend off cancer causing enzymes in the body. Specifically, moderate beer consumption helps prevent a certain chemical reaction that can lead to prostate cancer in men. Beer has also been shown to reduce the chances of getting breast cancer in women. 4.It can help reduce cholesterol levels If you’d like an unorthodox method for cutting your cholesterol levels, indulging in moderate beer consumption may be the way to go. The barley used in brewing of beer contains a type of soluble fiber known as beta glucans that has been shown to help in lowering cholesterol levels. 5.Reduce risk of stroke. Study discussed on Web-MD found occasional beer drinkers had a 12 percent decreased risk of ischemic stroke, compared with nondrinkers. On the flip side, heavy drinkers have a 33% increased risk of ischemic stroke. 6.Lower blood pressure. If you have a choice between beer, wine, or a cocktail, choose beer. Men's Health says a Harvard study found beer drinkers are less likely to develop high blood pressure than are wine and liquor drinkers. So now you have a reason to drink a pint everyday, remember the key to reaping these amazing health benefits of beer is moderate consumption. The effects of bodybuilding and alcohol consumption completely depend on exactly how much you're drinking, how often you're doing it and how you go about it each time. The first key thing to understand is that alcohol contains calories at roughly 7 per gram, and you need to be tracking your alcohol intake just as you would for any other macronutrient. If you're consistently ignoring the calorie content of your drinks then obviously that's going to have a negative effect. Secondly, if alcohol consumption throws the consistency of your training/nutrition program off as a whole (I.E. skipping workouts, binge eating etc.) then again, that's obviously going to become a problem if you aren't careful. So, for alcohol and fitness to go together in a way that doesn't impact your results negatively, your overall muscle building and fat burning plan as a whole needs to stay on track by taking the calories into account and remaining consistent with your workouts/nutrition in the big picture. Assuming you do that, it IS possible to consume some alcohol in a responsible way without any significant impact on your results. Moderate drinking (1-2 drinks per day for a man and 1 for a woman) has consistently shown to be beneficial for health (links above) and if you fall into this category then I wouldn't worry about it at all in terms of muscle growth/fat loss. A glass of wine in the evening or a few beers with your buddies here and there is no big deal at all. If you're wanting to go out and enjoy a heavier night of drinking once in a while, that's okay too as long as it's only done infrequently (no more than twice per month in most cases) and you follow these steps... - Stick to lower calorie drinks like dry wines and spirits. - Space your weight training sessions as far away as possible. - Keep yourself fully hydrated throughout the night. - Cut your fat intake for the day by roughly 50%. - Save up some calories for later on if you're prone to binge eat. I'm not saying that heavier drinking is healthy (this is something you have to weigh out for yourself), but from the pure perspective of alcohol and muscle growth or alcohol and fat loss, it likely won't have any significant impact if you follow the guidelines above. Alcohol while cutting or bulking is not going to be the end of the world, and you don't have to be a social recluse and abstain from drinking altogether in order to have a great physique. Just use some common sense, don't get carried away and don't allow it to throw your program as a whole off track. If it does cause you to fall off track consistently, then obviously that's something you'll need to evaluate for yourself. If you're concerned about alcohol and testosterone or alcohol and protein synthesis, then check the links above for more information as these effects have been widely exaggerated by most.

But my question is when should you take creatine? And could I take creatine for just Post Workout only?" The simple answer to this question is that it really doesn't matter when you take your creatine, as long as you take it regularly. The most important thing when it comes to creatine supplementation is that keep your muscle creatine levels topped up in order to reap the benefits that creatine has to offer. As for taking it before or after a workout; this is an interesting question and you'll hear 2 sides to this one. Some people believe that you should take creatine before working out so the creatine is available in the blood stream to be used during your actual workout itself. Others believe that you should take creatine after your workouts because your depleted muscles will be able to absorb and utilize the creatine and other nutrients better. I actually prefer to do both. I'll have 5 grams of creatine monohydate powder mixed in with a protein shake around midday. Than I'll usually workout later in the afternoon. And right after my workout I'll have a post workout shake with another 5 grams of creatine monohydrate mixed in. On non workout days you can simply have 1 serving of creatine at any time, either mixed with a glass of water, added to a protein shake, etc. This way you'll maintain a steady supply of creatine.
